This vintage solid bronze compass housing is in excellent condition. It has very minimal scratching and no major dents (a few minor but not very noticeable). This housing had a danforth constellation compass in it. It has a 6 1/4” diameter to hold a compass. The depth is 4 1/2”. The sliding on the head is smooth and does not catch at all. To mount on a pedestal top plate the bottom has area for 4 bolts to screw. This pattern is approx 3 3/4” apart (the holes are slightly longer for adjusting to fit on different sizes).
